Hotels surrounding business locations such as Redwood City’s Sofitel Hotel, downtown Los Angeles Bonaventure Hotel and San Diego’s Manchester Hyatt are geared toward the business crowd and often find themselves with empty rooms to fill during the weekend exodus. Such hotels are worth a glance when you’re visiting popular destinations such as San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego. While these properties are not always on the beach, they offer amenities, quality and business services so your weekend getaway does not force you to disconnect from your personal business and other connectivity issues.
California Vacation Hotel - A cyclical slow down in hotel bookings means more options for week-day travelers
California destinations generally offer greater availability in rooms in the winter. Sometimes the prices even go down, too! While vacationers continue to book rooms for two or three days at a time, there are more reservations for the weekend getaways, with one day bookings being prevalent. The most popular night is the Saturday night stay. So if you have some flexibility and can hit the road, hop on a flight and get going, now’s the perfect time to travel to California beaches, mountains and all points in between, especially on week days in beach cities where there’s not a huge business crowd. Beware of the weekend of Thanksgiving (Nov. 23 -25) and weekends of Christmas and New Year’s, however. Those holidays tend to see travelers flocking to nearly every Calfornia destination, with many staying in hotels. Especially popular during the holidays are the mountain resorts such as Mammoth Lakes, Big Bear Lake, Idyllwild and Yosemite.
